Community Investments

Brant United Way is responsible for investing the resources entrusted by donors to meet current and changing identified community needs.

Donations are strategically invested in our priority areas:

All that kids can be

Giving children and youth opportunities to reach their potential.

Healthy people,
strong communities

Families are strengthened with support, and people are given tools to live independently.

From poverty to possibility

People are given life's necessities.

Volunteer members of our Allocation Committee and Citizen Review teams do an intensive review of each Agency.

To ensure that our mission is achieved, Brant United Way's allocation process will:
  • maintain integrity in all steps of the process
  • ensure that funding policies, criteria, and priorities, as determined by the Board, are applied to all funding recommendations
  • allocate funds with fairness and consideration on the basis of submitted applications and budgets
  • visit Member Agencies, as required, to better understand their mandate and services
  • work with all Member Agencies to prevent unnecessary duplication of programs and services, promote effective service delivery and support efficiency and economy of administration
  • allow for a dynamic and flexible response to community needs and focus on the people who need help
  • assess the severity of any fundraising shortfall in the United Way campaign and make decisions according to a least-harm principle for both United Way and its Member Agencies.
